New Students’ Student Card Orders
Attention to those who have ordered a student card or are planning to do so. Student card orders for the students starting in January 2024 are currently in a pending state since the attendance information for these students is not yet available in the university system. This is entirely normal for those starting in January 2024, and the approval of new members will commence as soon as the attendance information becomes available.
After the membership is approved, the student will have access to a mobile Slice and/or Pivo student card. The printing of the physical card takes a few weeks.
How to order a student card?
You can order the student card from Kaakko’s website. Student cards are categorized into two groups: degree students and open university students.
Degree Student
When joining Kaakko as a member, a degree student is entitled to VR’s and Matkahuolto’s student discounts, Kela-subsidized meals, and thousands of student discounts across Finland. Student will automatically receive a mobile (Slice and/or Pivo) student card. A physical student card can be ordered for an additional fee The physical student card is generally delivered to the student union office, where the student can pick it up. If desired, the student can also pay a separate postage fee, after which the card will be delivered directly to the home address.

OUAS
When joining Kaakko as a member, an open university student gains access to thousands of student discounts across Finland. Unlike the student card for degree students, the open university card does not provide VR/Matkahuolto student discounts or Kela meal support. Student will automatically receive a mobile (Slice and/or Pivo) student card. A physical student card can be ordered for an additional fee The physical student card is generally delivered to the student union office, where the student can pick it up. Where to find the student number?
You can find your student number in Peppi (see the image). For students starting in 2024, the student number is in the format “24xxxxx,” where X represents the student’s personal number series.
